I sit.
I listen-
you’ve gone quiet.
Or maybe am not listening properly.
Could the silence mean
You are not here anymore?
You have left this building,
this body of mine.
Have I offended you, my twin,
to go so mute?
Displeased you-
to be so dismissive?
Maybe your silence is more meaningful than words-
silence similar to the peace when diving
deep into the cool seas
Just the sound of our breathing:
in. hold. release.
Unspoken but cutting deep.
Ah, there you are
“A nap” you say
“Not really” I challenge back.
You see,
You are me and I am you.
I know your second skin,
stitched with fine threads
along my spine.
Just one gentle pull
at the loose thread,
and we both unravel.
